LOUISIANA — Thousands of Louisiana residents are without electricity as an ice storm continues to impact parts of the state, according to the latest outage data from PowerOutage.com.

As of the most recent update, approximately 6,859 customers were reported without power statewide out of more than 2.38 million customers tracked. While outages were not widespread across the entire state, several parishes experienced concentrated power disruptions as freezing rain and icy conditions affected power lines and equipment.

Caddo Parish reported the highest number of outages, with 3,216 customers without electricity. East Baton Rouge Parish followed with 1,841 outages, while De Soto Parish reported 1,490 customers affected.

Smaller numbers of outages were reported in Franklin Parish, where 175 customers were without power, and in Orleans Parish, which reported 65 outages. Additional outages were noted in Bossier Parish with 15 customers affected, Jefferson Parish with nine, and Beauregard Parish with eight.

Utility officials have cautioned that ice accumulation on trees and power lines can cause additional outages, especially as temperatures remain near or below freezing. Residents are encouraged to use caution, limit travel where possible, and prepare for potential power disruptions as restoration efforts continue amid hazardous weather conditions.
