Thousands without power in Texas

TEXAS — Thousands of Texas residents remain without electricity as an ongoing ice storm continues to impact large portions of the state, according to outage data from PowerOutage.com.

As of the latest update, approximately 39,130 customers were reported without power statewide out of more than 15.5 million customers tracked.

While the overall outage percentage remains relatively low, several counties are experiencing concentrated impacts as freezing rain and icy conditions strain power infrastructure.

Lamar County reported the highest number of outages, with 5,495 customers without electricity. Rusk County followed with 4,458 outages, while Bowie County reported 2,861 customers affected.

Panola County had 2,496 outages, and Red River County reported 2,428 customers without power. Additional outages were reported in Cass County with 2,029 customers affected, Harris County with 2,023 outages, and Nueces County with 1,585 customers without electricity.

Utility officials have warned that ice accumulation on power lines and trees can lead to equipment damage and additional outages, particularly as temperatures remain below freezing. Residents are urged to avoid travel where possible and to prepare for the possibility of extended power disruptions as crews work to safely restore service amid hazardous conditions.
