
VIRGINIA — Virginia State Police seized more than $320,000 worth of illegal drugs during a statewide enforcement operation conducted last week, according to the Virginia State Police.
The operation took place from Wednesday, Jan. 14, through Tuesday, Jan. 20, and was carried out in partnership with several federal and local law enforcement agencies. During that time, state police seized a total of 46.3 pounds of narcotics and 12 firearms. Authorities estimated the total value of the seized drugs at $327,263.
Police provided a breakdown of the narcotics recovered during the investigation. Seizures included approximately 2.1 pounds of cocaine, 0.5 ounces of crack cocaine, 43.2 pounds of marijuana, 14.6 pounds of fentanyl, and 12 fentanyl pills.
In addition to drug and weapons seizures, Virginia State Police said they received 13 new human trafficking tips during the operation. That brings the total number of tips received to 1,474. Authorities also reported that 213 human trafficking-related cases have either been investigated or remain under active investigation.
State police said the enforcement effort is part of an ongoing statewide initiative aimed at disrupting drug trafficking and related criminal activity across the Commonwealth.
