OHIO — A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in northeast Columbus, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Police said officers were called to an area hospital around 11 p.m. after receiving a report of a walk-in shooting victim. When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Jon Small suffering from a gunshot wound. Small was later pronounced dead at 12:33 a.m. Friday.
Investigators said a second adult victim was also involved in the incident but was not injured.
Homicide detectives determined that the victims and the suspect were involved in an argument in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Tamarack Boulevard. Police identified the suspect as Kenneth Milton. The shooting reportedly occurred following the dispute, and Milton left the scene before officers arrived.
Milton was later located, arrested, and charged with one count of murder and one count of felonious assault. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Columbus police Detective Rowlands at 614-645-4192, the Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730, or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
