OHIO — A food delivery driver was the victim of an armed robbery late Sunday night in Youngstown, prompting a police investigation.

According to the Youngstown Police Department, officers were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to a residence on West Delason Avenue after a DoorDash driver reported she had been robbed at gunpoint. Police said the driver went to the address, with the exact house number redacted in reports, to deliver an order for DoorDash.

The delivery driver told officers she knocked on the door and was met by a man who said he would return with cash before closing the door. Moments later, two additional men approached from the side of the house, placed firearms against the driver’s back, and threatened her, according to the incident report. Police said the front door then reopened and the original man was holding what the victim described as a rifle-style firearm.

Authorities said the driver was forced at gunpoint into the basement of the residence and ordered to remain there for 10 minutes. Afterward, the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Police entered the vehicle into their system as stolen.

Officers noted in their report that the residence appeared to be vacant and that the doors to the house were unlocked. The investigation remains ongoing, and no suspect information was immediately released.
