MARYLAND — Traffic enforcement efforts in Westminster resulted in drug charges against two Pennsylvania men, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were conducting traffic enforcement Friday afternoon on Baltimore Boulevard when they stopped a Honda Accord with a Pennsylvania license plate for a traffic offense. The driver was identified as Phillip James Paul, 40, and the passenger as Kevin George Paul, 45, both of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
According to the sheriff’s office, a K-9 scan of the vehicle produced a positive alert for the odor of drugs. Deputies then searched the vehicle and the occupants and seized 98 capsules weighing approximately 33.7 grams of suspected fentanyl, 5.8 grams of suspected cocaine, eight Alprazolam (Xanax) bars, three cellphones, drug packaging materials, and $738 in cash.
Both men were charged with multiple drug-related offenses. Authorities said they are being held without bail at the Carroll County Detention Center.
