Woman arrested for DUI after vehicle crash leaves one dead in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — A woman has been charged with felony DUI following a crash over the weekend that killed a 2-month-old child in Greenville County.

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday on Lions Club Road near Lily Street. Troopers said a vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole.

Three people were inside the car at the time of the crash. The coroner’s office identified the child who died as Heydi Sarai Ramos Chavez, 2 months old. The infant was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Troopers did not release an update on the condition of the other passenger.

On Monday, the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that 18-year-old Ruby Montes-Pastor has been charged with felony driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

Authorities have not released additional details about the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
