
GEORGIA — A 72-year-old man has died following a farm accident involving a skid steer in north Georgia, according to authorities.
Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond identified the victim as George Elbert King of Abingdon, Virginia. The incident occurred just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a farm property on Calhoun Falls Road in Elberton.
According to the Elbert County Coroner’s Office, King was injured during the accident and received treatment at the scene. He was then transported by first responders to a nearby hospital for further care.
King later died from his injuries on Wednesday, the coroner confirmed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office. Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the accident.
“Our condolences go out to the family and the friends of Mr. King,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.
