Snowfall possible in Florida this weekend

FLORIDA — Snow lovers in Florida may have a rare opportunity to see flurries this weekend as another surge of cold air is forecast to move southward across the region.

Forecasters say the influx of frigid air is expected to keep temperatures well below normal on Sunday, creating a brief window for possible snowfall in parts of Florida, particularly across North Florida, as well as portions of Georgia.

Early weather model data suggests snowfall amounts could range from a light dusting to as much as 3 inches in areas where conditions are favorable. Officials note that forecast details could change as the event approaches, but the setup is unusual for the region.

Florida last experienced measurable snowfall in January 2025, when between 8 and 10 inches fell across northern parts of the state. That event shattered the previous state snowfall record of 4 inches, which had stood since 1954.

Meteorologists continue to monitor the evolving forecast and urge residents to stay updated as the weekend approaches.
