OHIO — A woman was arrested Tuesday morning after police said she made threats to blow up a school in Columbiana County.
According to the Leetonia Police Department, Erin McGuire, 36, was charged with a third-degree felony count of making terroristic threats following an incident outside Leetonia High School.
An incident report states that McGuire yelled the threats from her vehicle outside the school shortly after students were being dropped off. Police said two students had just exited a vehicle when McGuire parked near the front of the building, opened her car door, and began yelling and cursing about buses and teachers. During the outburst, she allegedly stated she was going to blow up the school before leaving the area.
While officers were investigating, a school employee reported that the school received a voicemail from McGuire at approximately the same time as the incident. According to the report, the voicemail included complaints about school bus routes.
Police later went to McGuire’s residence, where authorities said she admitted her statements were wrong. She was taken to the police station to provide a full statement and was later booked into jail.
Court records indicate McGuire is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment Wednesday morning.
