18-year-old flown to hospital following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — An 18-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Darke County early Monday morning, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:12 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 49 and Red River–West Grove Road. Authorities said Allyson Waymire, 18, of Englewood, was driving a Hyundai Sonata northwest on State Route 49 at the time of the collision.

Investigators reported that the other vehicle, a Lexus driven by Christopher Wilkins, 44, of Laura, was stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection. Wilkins pulled out into the intersection, where the crash occurred, according to a sheriff’s office spokesperson.

Waymire was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been released. Wilkins was not injured in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
