One person dead following shooting incident on I-77 in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — One man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a shooting early Saturday morning on Interstate 77, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said officers responded shortly after midnight to a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 1000 block of Vail Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with officials at Atrium Health Mercy and learned that a victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound had been transported to Atrium Main, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Trevohn Maleek Marshall.

Officers were also notified of two additional gunshot victims who arrived at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Police said both victims were listed in serious condition.

Investigators determined the shooting occurred on Interstate 77 near Remount Road. No information about suspects or a possible motive has been released. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
