OHIO — One person is dead following a shooting in south Columbus late Saturday night, according to police.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department were dispatched around 11:05 p.m. to the 5900 block of South High Street on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where they later died, police said.
According to investigators, the preliminary investigation determined that the victim and another adult were involved in a dispute in the parking lot of a business. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which the victim was shot and fatally injured.
Police said the other adult involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time. The case will be presented to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
