SOUTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered Saturday afternoon in the Chesnee area of Spartanburg County.
According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, the coroner was called to the scene on Ezell Road after a body was reported found. At approximately 1:20 p.m., the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area after a hunter discovered what appeared to be human remains.
Officials said the incident occurred near Chesnee. The coroner’s office stated that the discovery is not related to a separate incident in Mayo, where two people were recently found dead inside a home.
Few additional details have been released at this time. Authorities said the investigation remains active and is being handled jointly by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
