ALABAMA — A 35-year-old man is dead following a shooting outside a popular Irish pub in Dothan early Saturday morning, according to the Dothan Police Department.
Police identified the victim as Brandon Layfatte Jones, 35, of Dothan. Officers said the shooting occurred around 4:00 a.m. in a parking lot in the 3600 block of Montgomery Highway. Initial information from law enforcement indicates the incident happened just outside Houligans Irish Pub.
According to police, Jones was shot in the chest. First responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene before Jones was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators said a person of interest has been identified in connection with the shooting, but that individual is not currently in custody. The person of interest has not been publicly identified, and no additional details about a possible motive have been released.
