
OHIO — A power outage forced the closure of a Catholic school and disrupted preschool schedules in Montgomery County on Friday as storms moved through the region.
St. Peter School in Huber Heights announced shortly before 8 a.m. that it was without electricity and would be closed for the day. The school is located on Chambersburg Road. School officials did not provide an estimate for when power would be restored.
In addition, Huber Heights City Schools announced there would be no morning preschool classes on Friday due to a power outage at the Studebaker building. Other district operations were not immediately affected.
As of 8 a.m., more than 2,300 power outages were reported across Montgomery County, according to AES Ohio’s live outage map. The outages were reported as rain and high winds moved through the area.
Utility crews were working to restore service, and officials said outage numbers could change as conditions evolve.
