WISCONSIN — A winter weather advisory has been issued for several areas of northern Wisconsin, with snow and mixed precipitation expected to impact travel late Thursday into early Friday.
According to the National Weather Service office in Green Bay, the advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday for portions of northern Wisconsin, including Lincoln County and Northern Marinette County. Cities expected to be affected include Niagara, Tomahawk, Merrill and Wausaukee.

Forecasters said mixed precipitation is expected during the evening hours before changing over to all snow overnight. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected across these areas, which could lead to slippery and hazardous road conditions.
In addition, the advisory remains in effect for Oneida County, Vilas County, Forest County and Florence County. Communities including Rhinelander, Eagle River, Lac du Flambeau, Crandon, Aurora, Commonwealth and Spread Eagle are also expected to see similar conditions. In some locations, localized snowfall totals could reach up to 6 inches, depending on how quickly rain transitions to snow.
Officials are urging motorists throughout northern Wisconsin to slow down, allow extra travel time and use caution on roads overnight and into the Friday morning commute. Travelers can check current road conditions by calling 511.
