
OHIO — An East Cleveland man is being sought by authorities and is featured in this week’s Cuyahoga’s Most Wanted due to multiple outstanding warrants, including charges related to an alleged attempted murder.
According to Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, the suspect, Xavier Smith, is accused of attacking a victim during an argument in July 2025. Investigators say Smith allegedly pinned the victim to the ground for more than an hour. During the incident, he is accused of repeatedly punching the victim in the face, biting their eye, and choking them until they lost consciousness. The victim was hospitalized with multiple injuries.
In connection with the July incident, Smith is facing charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, three counts of strangulation, domestic violence, and kidnapping.
Police say Smith also has three active warrants in East Cleveland for assault, unlawful restraint, and felony assault. Additional warrants have been issued in Cleveland Heights for menacing by stalking, criminal damaging, and trespassing. Smith is also wanted by Pepper Pike police on a domestic violence charge.
Smith is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was last known to be staying in the 14500 block of Shaw Avenue in East Cleveland.
