$4 million winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — The new year started on a high note for a lottery player in Butler County after a $4 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in the area.

According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at Gordon’s Mini Mart, located on Rochester Road in Cranberry Township.

Lottery officials said the ticket matched all five white balls drawn on Jan. 2 — 6, 13, 34, 43 and 52 — but did not match the Mega Ball, which was 4. Matching the five white balls earned the ticket a $4 million prize.

The winner has one year from the drawing date to claim the prize. As the selling retailer, Gordon’s Mini Mart will also receive a $10,000 bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Because no ticket matched all six numbers, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow. The estimated jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing on Jan. 6 is $180 million.
