GEORGIA — A police chase ended near the McDonald’s at the corner of Victory Drive and Montgomery Street, where a suspect is now in custody, officials confirmed.
According to authorities, the incident involved an individual driving a stolen vehicle who fled from police before being apprehended in the area. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Savannah Police Department, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Chatham County Fire, and emergency medical services.
Police said there is a large law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation continues. As a result of the incident, both the northbound and southbound lanes of Montgomery Street have been closed.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while officers work at the scene. No additional details about injuries or charges were immediately released.
