ALABAMA — A crash on Interstate 10 in Daphne caused injuries and sparked a fire, leading to major traffic disruptions Tuesday, according to police.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Daphne Police Department said the crash occurred near the interchange of Highway 181 and I-10. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where injuries were reported and a vehicle fire broke out.
As a result of the crash, the diverging diamond interchange on Highway 181 has been closed. Westbound traffic on I-10 has also been stopped while authorities work the scene and investigate the incident.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until the roadway can be reopened. No additional details about the number of vehicles involved or the extent of injuries were immediately released.
