
MICHIGAN — A teenager from Battle Creek was killed Friday night after being struck by a train, according to local authorities.
The Battle Creek Police Department and the Battle Creek Fire Department said the incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. A 17-year-old was hit by a westbound train near the intersection of Bedford Road and Harmonia Road.
Officials said the teen was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional information about the victim has been released.
Police said the Battle Creek Police Department is working in coordination with railroad police to conduct a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a statement, the city expressed sympathy for those affected. “The City of Battle Creek extends sincere condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” officials said.
