PENNSYLVANIA — A winter weather advisory and a lake effect snow warning remained in effect Friday afternoon and evening for parts of northwestern Pennsylvania, with additional snowfall expected to impact travel, according to the National Weather Service.
In Crawford County, including the cities of Meadville and Titusville, a winter weather advisory was in effect until 7 p.m. Friday.
Forecasters said lake effect snow could bring additional accumulations of 1 to 3 inches through early evening. Snowfall rates could reach up to one-half inch per hour at times, creating slippery road conditions and potentially affecting the Friday evening commute.
Farther north, a lake effect snow warning was issued for northern and southern portions of Erie County, including Corry, Union City, Erie, and Edinboro. The warning was also set to remain in effect until 7 p.m. Friday, with heavy lake effect snow expected to produce similar accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission urged motorists to slow down, use caution while traveling, and delay unnecessary trips. Drivers were encouraged to check road and traffic conditions at 511pa.com.
