OHIO — The Columbus Division of Police is searching for a man accused of stealing packages from porches in the Clintonville neighborhood.

Police have released surveillance video showing a man wearing a blue hoodie holding an Amazon box on a porch. In the video, the man sets the box down and then takes two other Amazon packages that were already on the porch before leaving the area. Investigators said the suspect walked away and got into a maroon car.

According to police, the theft shown in the video occurred on Nov. 29. Authorities believe the man may be responsible for similar package thefts in the area.

Columbus police are encouraging residents to report any package thefts and provided the following guidance:

Residents are advised to check security or doorbell cameras for suspect descriptions or video footage, contact the delivery company or retailer to report the theft and ask about replacement or refund options, and file a police report.

If there is no suspect information or video, reports can be filed online at columbus.gov or by phone at 614-645-4717. If video evidence or a witness is available, residents are asked to call the Columbus Police non-emergency line at 614-645-4545 so an officer can be dispatched.

Police said thefts should be reported even if the item appears minor, noting that unreported incidents can lead to repeat crimes in the same neighborhoods.
