MISSISSIPPI — One person is dead following a shooting that was discovered during a traffic incident Friday morning in Holmes County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, troopers responded on Jan. 30 to reports of a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 51 near State Park Road.
Officials said that when authorities arrived at the scene, a female driver was found deceased inside the vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. A passenger was also inside the vehicle at the time but was not injured, according to officials.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and is investigating the incident. Authorities described the case as active and ongoing.
