FLORIDA — A four-vehicle crash in Pinellas County on Nov. 19 resulted in a drug and firearms arrest, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred on County Road 752 when a driver, identified as Matthew Georgia, failed to stop and collided with three other vehicles. Georgia reportedly told investigators he had bent down to pick up a dropped cell phone and was unable to brake in time after looking up and seeing the stopped traffic ahead.
Georgia was transported to a hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. While there, hospital security discovered two guns and suspected narcotics inside his backpack. A subsequent search revealed several bags of methamphetamine and a small jar of fentanyl, troopers said.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of firearms.
