
GEORGIA — Two utility workers were struck by a vehicle Thursday morning while working in downtown Lawrenceville, and one of the victims remains in critical condition, according to the Lawrenceville Police Department.
Police said the incident happened on Pike Street as a crew was working on a water line. The crash prompted multiple road closures in the area during the morning commute.
Authorities closed Pike Street from Culver Street to South Clayton Street. The roadway reopened around 8 a.m. Crogan Street was also shut down from Perry Street to Oak Street as officers investigated.
Officials said one of the utility workers was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The second worker was listed in stable condition.
It was not immediately clear what led to the crash. Police have not said whether the driver involved will face charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
