OHIO — City police arrested two men over the weekend on multiple felony drug charges, authorities reported.
Eugene Frazier, 41, was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after being spotted in a stolen SUV on South Avenue.
Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, which eventually stopped in the parking lot of a gas station at 1907 South Ave. A man inside jumped out and ran as a gunshot was heard, though police were unable to locate him. Frazier remained in the vehicle.
During a search, officers found a satchel containing a large amount of cocaine, along with fentanyl, mushrooms, ecstasy, and methamphetamine.
Frazier was charged with possession of cocaine (first-degree felony), possession of fentanyl (fourth-degree felony), receiving stolen property (fourth-degree felony), and three fifth-degree felony counts of drug possession. He was booked into Mahoning County Jail.
Separately, Marcus Wilkins, 37, was arrested around 11:15 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop on the 900 block of Cornell Avenue for an improper turn. Police noted Wilkins’ suspicious behavior and asked him to exit the vehicle for a search. He initially refused but later complied. Officers found marijuana and a large plastic bag containing smaller bags of methamphetamine and crack cocaine.
Wilkins attempted to flee but was apprehended in a nearby backyard on the 900 block of East Indianola Avenue. The bag also contained fentanyl and $960 in cash.
Wilkins was charged with possession of cocaine (first-degree felony), possession of methamphetamine (second-degree felony), possession of heroin (fourth-degree felony), and obstructing official business (second-degree misdemeanor). He also has outstanding warrants for aggravated drug trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Both men are expected to be arraigned Monday in municipal court.
