MISSISSIPPI — Two people were arrested Tuesday evening after deputies pursued a vehicle suspected of being involved in criminal activity in Forrest County.

According to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop the vehicle around 6 p.m. after identifying it as possibly connected to criminal activity. When deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the area.

Authorities said deputies coordinated with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and the Hattiesburg Police Department during the pursuit. The vehicle eventually stopped, and both occupants were taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, identified as Shaquille Adams, faces several charges, including felony eluding law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving. Officials said Adams has multiple prior felony arrests and is currently on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Authorities noted there is a possibility that MDOC could revoke his probation as a result of the new charges.

The passenger, Tearra Gray, was charged with disorderly conduct for failure to comply with law enforcement commands.

Both individuals were transported to the Forrest County Jail. As of the latest update, Adams remains in custody, while Gray is not listed on the online jail roster.

The investigation remains ongoing.
