KENTUCKY — Two teenagers were arrested within about 90 minutes of a violent carjacking on Lydia Street, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Police said the robbery occurred on Feb. 18 when 19-year-old Justin Broyles and a 17-year-old approached a woman as she walked toward her vehicle. Investigators said one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim while the other demanded her keys.
The woman was able to escape unharmed, but the suspects fled the scene in her vehicle, police said.
Officers used FLOCK camera technology across the city to track the stolen vehicle. The car was located on Renwood Boulevard, where police arrested both suspects roughly an hour and a half after the carjacking.
According to police, both suspects gave statements after being advised of their rights and admitted to their involvement in the crime. Authorities also said the juvenile suspect was found in possession of a handgun with a defaced serial number.
Police credited coordinated efforts between patrol officers, investigative units and camera technology for the quick recovery of the vehicle and the arrests.
