TEXAS — Two women were arrested Saturday after authorities say they attempted to smuggle illegal drugs into the Henderson County Jail using a tube of skin cream.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators had been looking into suspected narcotics trafficking in the area in the days leading up to the arrests. During the investigation, authorities learned that Megan Chapman, 36, and Shannon Boyle, 47, both of Eustace, planned to deliver drugs to the jail Saturday morning.

Narcotics investigators and K9 deputies intercepted the women and discovered the drugs hidden inside a tube of eczema cream. Inside the tube were several small balloons containing suspected narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and illegal pills.

Investigators believe the drugs were intended for two inmates at the jail, Jessy Pierce, 38, and Joshua Sallings, 45, both of Mabank.

During interviews, Boyle admitted she had methamphetamine and a glass pipe in her purse. Chapman also told investigators she had additional drugs at her home.

Authorities said a search of Chapman’s residence on County Road 2918 in the Eustace area uncovered items used to conceal drugs, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and THC gummies.

Chapman and Boyle were charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility. Boyle also faces an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Chapman was booked into the Henderson County Jail on a $300,000 bond, while Boyle’s bond was set at $250,000.

Pierce and Sallings were also charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility, in addition to charges they were already facing.
