MISSISSIPPI — Two Lucedale residents were arrested early Thursday after leading George County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a 30-minute chase.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Don Barton Road around 1 a.m. on Aug. 28.
The driver did not stop, and a passenger was reportedly seen throwing items out of the window during the pursuit. The chase ended after deputies deployed spike strips, bringing the vehicle to a stop.
The driver was identified as 43-year-old Michael H. Sutton, and the passenger as 42-year-old Michelle L. Hile. Deputies said a search of the vehicle uncovered multiple firearms, controlled substances, jewelry, and coins.
Sutton, who was wanted for a probation violation, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing law enforcement, reckless driving, and possession of paraphernalia. Hile is charged with tampering with physical evidence. Both were taken to the George County Correctional Facility to await appearances before a justice court judge.
“I am extremely satisfied and thankful for the outstanding efforts of our Deputies, Narcotics Division, and Investigators. They have been doing an exceptional job in working together to keep dangerous criminals, drugs, and weapons off our streets,” Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said. “I want to give a special thank you to each of them for their dedication and commitment to protecting the citizens of George County.”
The case is under investigation by the George County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
