
MISSISSIPPI — Three people were killed Friday night in a head-on crash on Highway 42 in Lamar County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened at approximately 8:33 p.m. on Feb. 13. An 18-year-old driver, Aaron Page of Sumrall, was traveling west in a Ford F-150 when his vehicle collided with an eastbound 2021 Toyota Camry driven by 23-year-old Courtney Whitehead of Bassfield.
Authorities said Whitehead had two passengers in the Camry: a 16-year-old from Bassfield and a 17-year-old from Carson.
Page, Whitehead and the 16-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lamar County Coroner’s Office. The 17-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
A GoFundMe has been established to assist the families of Whitehead and the 16-year-old with funeral expenses.
