ALABAMA — Three people are facing charges after a major drug bust in the Almont area of Montevallo, authorities announced.
On Thursday, September 4, the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, assisted by the Shelby County Tactical Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Davis Hawkins Street.
Investigators reported seizing a large quantity of drugs, including 10 pounds of marijuana, 154 grams of cocaine, 154 grams of promethazine, 22 grams of MDMA, 175 grams of methamphetamine, 135 grams of THC, 172 grams of hydrocodone, 146 grams of psychedelic mushrooms, 34 grams of crack cocaine, and 3 grams of oxycodone. Firearms were also recovered at the residence.
Three suspects — Anthony Peoples Sr., Desmond Cottingham, and Tamika Cottingham — were arrested and taken to the Shelby County Jail.
Peoples Sr. faces charges of drug trafficking involving marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and hydrocodone, along with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Desmond and Tamika Cottingham were each charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and first-degree possession of marijuana.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
