MISSISSIPPI — More than 146,000 homes and businesses remain without power following a snow and ice storm across Mississippi as of Monday evening, according to the latest outage data.

Statewide, 146,376 customers remain without power, representing 10.02% of the state’s 1,461,256 tracked utility customers. Mississippi currently has the second-highest number of power outages in the United States and ranks first nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

The most significant concentration of outages is in Lafayette County, where 18,633 customers remain without power. That equates to 69.9% of utility customers in the county, making Lafayette the hardest-hit county in Mississippi.

Utility crews across the state continue restoration efforts as icy conditions, fallen trees, and damaged power lines slow progress. Of the 26 utilities tracked statewideEntergy is reporting the largest number of outages, with 47,949 customers still without power.

By percentage, Tippah Electric Power Association (EPA) is experiencing the most severe impact, with 90.36% of its customers remaining without power as repair work continues.

Residents are urged to use caution when traveling, follow generator safety guidelines, and monitor local updates as crews work to restore service.
