SOUTH CAROLINA — Hampton County High School was placed under a “secure” hold Thursday morning due to activity outside the school.
A secure hold means the school building is locked and access is restricted because of a potential situation in the surrounding area. According to school officials, the precaution is taken when there is an external concern, such as nearby police activity.
In a message sent to parents, Hampton County School District officials said there is no safety risk to students or staff inside the building.
School leaders said they will notify parents and the community once the secure hold has been lifted.
