OHIO — A man is dead following a shooting incident that ended in a car crash in southwest Columbus on Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a crash around 3:16 p.m. near the intersection of Demorest Road and Rock Way Lane.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Initially, authorities indicated there were two victims involved; however, a later update confirmed that there was only one.

According to police, the victim had been meeting with at least two other men in the parking lot of a shopping center located on the 1400 block of Demorest Road.

The victim, driving a maroon F-150 pickup truck, was shot during this encounter.

Following the shooting, the victim drove north on Demorest Road for a short distance before crashing the truck on the bridge near Bonnie Court.

The suspected shooter, along with two other males, fled the scene and entered the Post Oaks apartment complex located north of the shopping center on the west side of Demorest Road.
