Schools in Ohio could close multiple days this week

OHIO — Scattered snow showers moving across Ohio on Sunday could lead to multiple school closures and delays this week as districts monitor road conditions and additional lake-effect snow.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, snow showers are expected to continue through the afternoon before gradually weakening Sunday evening.

However, forecasters say lingering streamers off the Great Lakes could bring additional snowfall overnight into Monday, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions for the start of the school week.

Most areas across the region are expected to receive between 1 and 2 inches of snow.

However, locally higher amounts are possible in communities where heavier snow showers develop later Sunday and into the evening hours. Even minor additional accumulation could create slick roads, especially during early morning hours when temperatures remain low.

School administrators across Ohio will be closely watching conditions late Sunday and early Monday as crews work to treat roadways. Districts in areas that receive heavier bursts of snow could face delays or cancellations Monday morning. If lake-effect bands persist into Tuesday, some schools could experience disruptions for more than one day.

Parents and students are encouraged to monitor district communications and local forecasts for the latest updates on potential closures.
