
VIRGINIA — More than $1.4 million worth of illegal drugs was seized statewide in a one-week period as part of ongoing crime suppression efforts by the Virginia State Police, authorities said.
Through partnerships with federal and local law enforcement agencies, Virginia State Police seized a total of 63.8 pounds of narcotics across the commonwealth between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27. The seizures included 11.8 pounds of cocaine, 24.2 pounds of marijuana, 19.8 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.4 pounds of psilocybin, 5.4 pounds of fentanyl, and 105.4 pounds of THC consumables.
According to state police, the confiscated narcotics would have generated an estimated $1.44 million if sold illegally. Troopers also recovered $113,886 in U.S. currency during the enforcement operations.
In addition to drugs and cash, police seized 34 firearms, with an estimated total value of $19,000.
Virginia State Police also provided an update on human trafficking investigations, reporting a total of 1,492 tips received to date. Between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27, police received 18 new tips. Authorities said 220 human trafficking cases have either been investigated or remain under investigation statewide.
