KENTUCKY — The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security is warning residents about a powerful new synthetic drug that has been detected in central Kentucky.
Officials say the drug, known as Cychlorphine, is ten times stronger than fentanyl and has been linked to overdose deaths in neighboring areas, including East Tennessee.
Authorities are urging first responders, healthcare providers and law enforcement officers to use extreme caution when handling unknown substances.
They advise the use of proper personal protective equipment and recommend treating all suspected Cychlorphine-related overdoses as medical emergencies. Any confirmed or suspected cases should be reported immediately to local public safety agencies.
The office is also asking the public to remain vigilant, avoid contact with unknown substances and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
