MISSISSIPPI — Law enforcement officials in Jasper County have identified a person of interest in the fatal shootings that occurred during a high school football game Friday night in Heidelberg.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday morning that investigators are seeking to speak with 18-year-old Tylar Jarod Goodloe in connection with the incident.

The department released a mugshot of Goodloe on its Facebook page in hopes that someone may recognize him. Authorities emphasized that he is currently considered a person of interest, not a suspect.

Gunfire erupted Friday night during Heidelberg High School’s homecoming game against Mize, as the stands and field were filled with spectators.

Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White said two people were shot and killed on school grounds, and at least one other person was wounded. The victims have not yet been identified.

Officers from Heidelberg and Bay Springs police departments, along with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and Mississippi Highway Patrol, responded to the scene. Law enforcement worked late into the night to secure the area, treat victims, collect evidence, and search for the shooter.

Authorities are asking anyone who attended the game or has information about the person of interest to contact Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White at 601-422-7430 or the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department at 601-765-2588.
