Pennsylvania State Police to launch aggressive driving crackdown

PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania State Police will begin a statewide aggressive-driving enforcement campaign aimed at reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities on roadways.

The initiative is scheduled to run from March 18 through April 26 and will involve approximately 300 municipal police agencies across the state.

According to officials, the enforcement effort will target behaviors such as distracted driving, speeding and violations in work zones. Drivers who are stopped for aggressive driving are expected to receive citations.

Police said aggressive driving includes actions such as traveling too fast for conditions, following other vehicles too closely and committing other dangerous maneuvers behind the wheel.

The campaign is part of Pennsylvania’s Highway Safety Program and is funded in part through PennDOT using federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Officials say the goal of the enforcement wave is to improve road safety and reduce the number of serious crashes across Pennsylvania.
