Part of I-59 in Mississippi shut down after vehicle crash results in three injuries

MISSISSIPPI — An 18-wheeler overturned into the median of Interstate 59 North early Wednesday morning, colliding with three other vehicles and injuring multiple people, according to authorities.

The crash occurred just south of the U.S. 98 interchange. The tractor-trailer blocked both northbound lanes after overturning, causing significant traffic delays in the area.

Emergency crews responded to the scene to clear the wreckage and assist those involved. Traffic was slowed as officers worked to move vehicles around the crash site.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported that three people suffered moderate injuries. No fatalities were reported.

Officials said the northbound lanes of I-59 were expected to close completely for a period of time to allow crews to remove the overturned truck from the median.

Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes while cleanup efforts continued.
