NORTH CAROLINA — A student at North Forsyth High School is facing charges after deputies say the student brought a loaded gun onto campus.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the firearm had an obliterated serial number.

The student has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed. A secure custody order was issued, and the student was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr. praised deputies, school staff, and students for helping bring the situation to a safe resolution. “On just the seventh day of school, a juvenile was found in possession of a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number,” Kimbrough said. “We are grateful for the work of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and all those involved.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at 336-727-2112 or Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.
