MISSISSIPPI — A man was shot in the leg after confronting someone who was allegedly attempting to steal his vehicle overnight in Jackson, according to police.
The Jackson Police Department said the incident occurred at a home in the 3200 block of Oak Forest Drive. Officers responded and spoke with the 58-year-old victim, who reported that he was inside his home when he noticed someone trying to steal his Kia Soul.
Police said the man went outside and encountered the suspect, who was described as wearing a black shirt and gray sweatpants. During the encounter, the victim was shot in the leg.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene on foot with another individual. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
