PENNSYLVANIA — A shooting near Westmoreland County Community College’s New Kensington Campus left one person injured Monday afternoon and briefly forced the school into lockdown.
Authorities said several gunshots were reported around 12:35 p.m. near Valley Royal Court on Fifth Avenue, outside an apartment complex.
One person was injured in the incident and taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
Police confirmed a suspect was taken into custody following a brief standoff in the same area.
The lockdown at the New Kensington campus was lifted after the suspect’s arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
