MISSISSIPPI — One person is in critical condition after a shooting Wednesday night at an apartment complex in Tupelo.
According to Tupelo police, the incident occurred at the Monarch Creek Apartments on Ida B. Wells Street.
A young man was chased through a parking lot while someone fired multiple shots at him. The victim reportedly fell to the ground and attempted to knock on nearby apartment doors for help.
Emergency crews transported the victim by ambulance to a hospital, where police say he remains in critical condition.
Authorities also removed a vehicle with a shattered back window from the apartment complex following the shooting.
Police have not released any information about potential suspects and said the investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators have also not said whether the incident is connected to a separate shooting that left one person injured Monday night in the parking lot of a gas station on West Jackson Street.
