TENNESSEE — A woman was injured in a road rage shooting outside the Davidson County Criminal Court building Monday morning, authorities said.

Officers were called to the Justice A. A. Birch Building on 2nd Avenue North around 8:40 a.m. A court spokesperson said the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was grazed by a bullet during an argument in the roundabout area.

Metro police said she was hit in the shoulder while getting out of a white vehicle. She sought help inside the courthouse before being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the shooter, who exchanged words with the victim from a Dodge Durango, fled the scene in that vehicle. No suspect description has been released, and the courthouse was not placed on lockdown.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage as the investigation continues. No further details were immediately available.
