One person injured after being struck by vehicle in Ohio, suspect arrested

OHIO — A juvenile remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle Friday evening, according to Middletown police.

Authorities say the crash happened just before 6 p.m. at the intersection of Breiel Boulevard and Lefferson Road. Police report that a 35-year-old man from Dayton, identified as Thomas Harris, struck the juvenile with his vehicle and then fled the scene.

The injured juvenile was transported by medical helicopter to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. Officials said the juvenile remains in critical but stable condition.

Police say that shortly after the crash, officers located the vehicle in the area of the Kroger store on Towne Boulevard. Harris was stopped by officers and taken into custody at the scene.

Harris is currently being held at the Middletown City Jail. He faces charges of aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle while impaired, and leaving the scene of a crash.
