MISSISSIPPI — A child was killed and another person remains missing after a vehicle crashed into a creek along the Natchez Trace Parkway during severe weather Monday night.
According to authorities, the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. as heavy rain and flash flooding moved through the area. A witness told investigators the vehicle swerved off the parkway and into a nearby creek before calling 911.

Officials said a girl was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lee County coroner confirmed the death Tuesday morning.
Authorities are continuing to search for another individual who is believed to be missing following the crash.
